Optimizing the Advantages of Decorative Feeders

The orioles that will rest on your oriole feeder are not bought along with the oriole feeder itself. You need to work on how you can use your decorative bird feeders to your maximum advantage. With this fact in mind, we have listed helpful tips on how to call the attention of these colorful birds toward your oriole feeder.
First, do know that from the natural resources like fruits and flowers, you can avail of nectars. If you do not have any of these, look around for some big trees around your yard and try to look for birds that have brilliant yellow feathers with shiny black coat on top.

It will be a good sign to find one or two birds. You now place your oriole bird feeders somewhere nearby where you initially saw the birds. By doing this, your feeders become more noticeable to them. It will be a good attraction for birds to come and hang out inside your feeder if you put some halved oranges inside. One whole unsliced orange will be hard to extract juice from compared to one that is cut in half, so the birds will enjoy feeding more. Berries and grapes may also help because of their juiciness. If you do not have any of these fruits, head out to the nearest pet food store and buy some suet or peanut butter mixtures. You can also use small pieces of bread for your oriole feeder. It will just take a while for the orioles to find these fortunes.

The problem is not only the birds are attracted to sweet foods. You need to prevent this as they can consume the foods intended for your hungry orioles. One good remedy is to have a water spray prepared to shoo away flying bees and turn ants off from proceeding to your feeders.

A tidy feeder will be a favorite hangout for birds. It will do you no good to find nectars dripping out of the feeder or rotting fruits on top of it. Schedule a feeder check once every week to see its condition through the weather and bring it down for tidying up as needed. Another technique to call orioles to your feeder is to lay some bird bath close to it. Do not go lower than twice a week in terms of changing water to prevent accumulation of bird droppings. There are instances when you will end up with great success simply adding a couple more feeders and placing them strategically. As people often said, the more means the merrier. Orioles will quickly fill your background before you know it.

Some studies have suggested that if bird feeders are left empty for just one day, orioles will start to look for other sources of food and may not come back soon enough. For sure, you would not want that to happen don’t you?
